Shared Writing Observation

My shared writing observation was really not that great, I found out later that what I was watching was not actually shared writing, which was half the problem.

I was also trying to help several kids at the sometime... and multi tasting is not really a strong point of mine so that was a fail.

Back at tech, I learnt what shared writing actually was, the class and teacher coming up with a quality sentence together.
What I watched was the teacher guiding the children with their first sentence then letting them finish it on their own.

Any way, this probably should have been longer but theres not much else I can say on the subject, hopefully next time I will l have a better idea of what I am doing(:

  1. Well done Tui - you recognised the difference between shared writing and guided writing! Your second observation will be much more informed. don't forget to comment on the highlights - there is always some little gem that you can write about - even just helping a child and seeing the delight on their face!

  2. Tui, your comments on SBL show the challenges and successes you have had in learning to teach. The entries are reflective and demonstrate that you have learned from each experiences. Practicum will give you an opportunity to get more deeply involved and practice your teaching skills with one class - enjoy.
